Played Triangle Service's Pengo on ALL-Net download and really enjoyed it and so subsequently found a NOS 'Game Center Love With Pengo!' Kit for RingEdge2 - without the dongle. I know the game has been released on the XBOX but it's not quite the same Is there a legit supplier still selling these ringedge/wide kits with key or do you have to be an operator with an agreement with Sega? I'd certinally be interested in a RingEdge section Andy! On another topic, star horse 3 is another Ring Edge game which is kind of cool when you see it in action. On another topic, star horse 3 is another Ring Edge game which is kind of cool when you see it in action That game is Japan only and requires the all.net rental keychip and valid subscription to sega. Future of Japan games is rental only, even in the uk latest namco.require network to Bandai Namco server. Thanks for confirming that information, so it looks like we will increasingly be holding out for official PC releases, Darius Burst Chronicle Saviours being the first on my list.
I think the market is limited but I'd happily buy a 'home' arcade system and pay per credit if it allowed access to the latest releases. Incredible technologies have taken a bit of lead by suppling a 'home version' cabinet and subscription to Golden Tee. Asayuki wrote: Can that be still considered arcade gaming? No more custom hardware, no more coins, no more standalone experience.
What does one need a cabinet for then? An high tech console with a massive DLP projector and sound amplifier would create a better experience then, no?
Ahh sorry, didn't mean to hijack or troll the thread. I think it would be cool to be able to play some of the traditional fighting and shooting games currently on ALL-net or Nescia.net at home. Let's not forget the Neo Geo AES or Dreamcast followed this model, the games could be made available after they have been out in the arcades for some time. I'm not suggesting a replacement for arcades, they are as you say a unique experience.
I just think Incredible technologies were quite brave in seeing a market for enthusiasts who wanted a Golden Tee machine at home. It looks like Steam is becoming a release point for a number of independent Japanese developers which is good news.
